KARA is designated donation organization approved by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance of Korea. KARA fulfills its duties and responsibilities as a government-approved animal protection corporation.

The current status and usage details of the donation is transparently disclosed on the website every month.

Annual activities are carried out and reported with the approval of members at annual general meetings.

External audits are conducted by authorized accounting firms once a year to verify transparency.

We aim for a world where animals lead their own lives as dignified lives, being free from unilateral exploitation and use of humans, and all lives coexist in poise and harmony.

We expands understanding, empathy, and social participation in animal rights through sharing knowledge and learning with citizens, encourages positive changes in culture and perception through extensive research and a variety of action, and promotes animal welfare by improving movement of laws and systems.

Elimination of Dog Meat
Image Description Korea is the only country in the world that has the dog farms. KARA activists have traced dog farms, dog slaughterhouses, and dog auction houses. We rescue dogs and close the site. Our sociocultural activities, such as campaigns, field surveys, and improvement activities in laws and systems, would be carried out to completely abolish the dog meat.
Abolition of Factory Farming
Image Description In Korea, it is still common to raise chickens in a battery cage and trap pigs in a stall. We aim to break down the factory farming system, to actualize the welfare of farm animals, to eliminate excessive carnivores, and to invigorate veganism.
Prevention of Animal Abuse
Image Description We rescue animals suffering from hatred, violence, and being killed. We respond to animal abuse cases and work to ensure the abusers get strongly punished.
Boycott of Wild Animal Exhibition
Image Description We act to make wild animals live as living ones that have the right to lead their natural lives, not as objects of exhibition or entertainment. We prepare a sanctuary to solve the ‘breeding bear’ issue.
Prohibition of Buying and Selling Animals
Image Description Breeding animals are still produced in many ‘dog factories’ and ‘cat factories.’ We strive to prevent unethical breeding and sales of animals, and to cultivate the social culture adopting pets instead of buying them.
1 Research and Legislation Movement

To ensure the rights of all animals, we study and propose the legislation of laws and policies. In addition to strengthening the Animal Protection Act, we will carry out social activities to state animal rights in the Constitution.

2 Response to Animal Abuse

We cooperate with government agencies to prevent animal abuse, by accusing animal abuse cases and establishing strategies to rescue animals in blind spots of the Animal Protection Act.

3 Protection and Adoption

The Animals rescued by KARA move to ‘KARA The Bom Center,’ being in the warm care in a clean space without the risk of being killed. We seek their lifelong human families through a strict and meticulous adoption screening.

4 Rescue and Aid

We rescue animals in urgent need and support the treatment and adoption of animals rescued by citizens. We work together with community to support private shelters and volunteering, neutralization surgery and feed support.

5 Animal Rights Education

We develop a plan for animal rights education that develops life-sensitivity, empathy, and responsibility. We provide a various education for children, adolescents, and adults.

6 Archiving

We keep record and share data related to animal rights. Sharing information on animal and animal rights action would nourish civic action to establish more constructive and sound animal rights.

7 Cultural Action and Campaigns

With Animal Film Festivals, exhibitions, and humanities programs, we provide a space for expanding awareness of respect for life. And we promote a mature civil society through various activities with citizens.
